Jewel Staite is a wonderful young actress who is both talented and beautiful. This web site contains a summary of her work, pictures, sounds, video clips, some links to other related pages, and letters from Jewel, herself.

Jewel's birthdate is 2 June 1982. She lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her work, however, has taken her other places. Space Cases was filmed in Montreal. Flash Forward was filmed in Toronto and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was done in Calgary. She has also been in the Los Angeles area to film a promotional for Flash Forward and to film the series Firefly. Since Firefly she has been all over the world attending conventions. In addition to acting, Jewel has also done some modelling. She has appeared on posters and billboards around the Vancouver area. She sings too. Jewel sings in two of her television shows and she has also appeared at the Marquee Grill in Vancouver.

Probably what brought Jewel to my notice years ago in Flash Forward was her voice; She has an amazing voice. It may be her most distinguishing feature. The Canadian accent gives it a regal sound and she delivers her lines with such authority. It's a voice that exudes confidence and strength of character.

This web site is mainly a celebration of her work as an actor, however, I must add one comment on Jewel herself. I have learned that she is a very pleasant individual; she is witty, intelligent, full of fun, extremely gracious to her fans, and mature beyond her years.

Here are a couple comments made in two different internet chats by two of the adult cast members of Higher Ground--one from Joe Lando (Peter) and one from Anne Marie Loder (Sophie). These statements are very flattering and confirm what I have known for several years.

"Jewel is one of our most interesting characters I think. And probably the most adult of all of us on the show. She's an old soul and very interesting and I think she brings a lot to Daisy."
~ Joe Lando

"Jewel is a 30 year old woman in a 17 year old body. She's very smart and a lovely personality. Definitely an old soul."
~ Anne Marie Loder

"Dear Roj"

Quotations

31 January 2007

This site has moved to this temporary location. There is insufficient space here for all of the original content so there will be many broken links. I am hosting this site here so that at least the "Dear Roj" section will be available. I have some offers for places to host this and will be negotiating those in the near future. Always use the stable domain name JewelStaite.net to find this site as it's actual location may change frequently in the future.

8 December 2006

After over 10 years, this site is losing it's web space. My ISP has decided to not be an ISP anymore. I never used it as an ISP, actually. I only kept my account because they gave me 300 megabytes of web space. As of today, the site still appears to be intact, but I expect it to disappear in the near future. In the meantime, I'll be looking for another place to host this site.
