Why should Natanya Ross have a web page? Mathematically speaking, she has the highest coolness to exposure ratio of anyone. She just doesn't get the screen time she deserves. She has done some small parts, but she should really play the lead in a television show or movie of her very own.
The Secret World of Alex Mack is a unique show because it has three young actresses with exceptional talent: Larisa Oleynik, Meredith Bishop, and Natanya Ross. Among these, Natanya is the most interesting. Robyn, her character, is a unique and comic individual. Unfortunately, she doesn't appear in every episode. There was only a single episode with Robyn as the central character--that was Nerve.
Robyn seems to have a different hairstyle every time she appears. Usually her hair is tied up in some strange way. Strands of her hair are often braided--she looks best with braids. And she's the only girl that ever looked good in pigtails. (Except perhaps for Kirsten Storms as Zenon.) Her hairstyles are as varied as Alex Mack's hats, but much more interesting. She carries a backpack that someone in grade school might own.
Her most distinguishing feature, however, is her attitude. She's so pessimistic and despairing, but in a way that is so endearing. She has a peculiar way of changing her expressions quickly. Critics might call it unreal, but I think of it as surreal; it defines her character. She's adorable.
Shadow Zone: The Undead Express is not a memorable movie and Natanya is not the main character, but it is worth seeing. She's good--a better actor than the lead character. The first words spoken in the movie were Natanya saying "Oh great!" in her sarcastic Robyn Russo voice. Her Robyn really stands out but she only lets it happen a few times. She's a more serious character in this movie. She has this really great soft voice that she uses sometimes that she never used in Alex Mack. She could break hearts with that voice. The color of Natanya's hair is the most wonderful shade of red. There are many kinds of red, but hers is the ideal or perfect color for red hair. In this amazing picture from Shadow Zone (above) it positively glows. She has awesome intensely blue eyes. (center) Someone said that her corporation is called Red Hair Blue Eyes. And finally there is the voice. I don't know how to describe it except to say that it has a wonderfully sweet texture. Natanya's style is so expressive. She has a wide variety of interesting faces. Some might say she is over-the-top, but nevertheless, her characters are very endearing. It's funny how she sometimes sticks her lips out into an odd shape when she gets really animated while talking. (below) What has become of Natanya Ross? She hasn't appeared in anything in quite some time. Several years ago, she sent me an e-mail to thank me for this web site; that was very kind of her. We corresponded a little after that. I even received an invitation to see the premiere of Bellyfruit! I've had many people write to me who say that they know her--including two people from the crew of Alex Mack. All of them speak very highly of Natanya--all saying that she is very likeable. |
